Isaiah 40: The Lord is Your Strength

Comfort, comfort my people, says the Lord,
Speak to the heart of Jerusalem,
Tell her that her struggle is over,
That her iniquity has been pardoned.

A voice cries in the wilderness, prepare the way of the Lord,
Make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
Every valley shall be raised, and every mountain brought low,
The glory of the Lord will be revealed.

Lift your eyes and look to the heavens,
Who created these stars in their vastness?
God, the eternal, mighty, and wise,
Sustains all with His great kindness.

The Lord comes with power, and His arm will rule,
He shepherds His flock with love,
He carries the lambs in His arms,
And gently leads those that have young.

Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand,
Or weighed the mountains on a scale?
Who has instructed the Spirit of the Lord,
Or taught Him the path of wisdom?

Lift your eyes and look to the heavens,
Who created these stars in their vastness?
God, the eternal, mighty, and wise,
Sustains all with His great kindness.

Young men grow weary and tired,
The strong stumble and fall,
But those who wait on the Lord
Will renew their strength like the eagle.

They will run and not grow weary,
They will walk and not be faint,
For the Lord is their strength,
He is their peace and their truth.
