1 Chronicles 17 Summary - The Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges
This passage is a reproduction with some omissions (cp. 1Ch 17:1; 1Ch 17:5; 1Ch 17:12-13; 1Ch 17:27) and variations (cp. 1Ch 17:5-6 ; 1Ch 17:9-11; 1Ch 17:14; 1Ch 17:17-19; 1Ch 17:23; 1Ch 17:27) of 2 Samuel 7. The text Is generally smoother in Chron., and in some cases (e.g. in 1Ch 17:21) we cannot doubt that the Chronicler has emended the earlier text. Some variations given in the A.V. are not found in the Heb. text. Such variations are corrected in the R.V.

The Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges
The Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges is a biblical commentary set published in parts by Cambridge University Press from 1882 onwards. Anglican bishop John Perowne was the general editor. The first section published was written by theologian Thomas Kelly Cheyne and covered the Book of Micah.
Perowne exercised limited editorial control over the writers of individual commentaries: his aim was "to leave each contributor to the unfettered exercise of his own judgment".
